Fathers Day

by Connie G. Moore
(Sandy, Oregon USA)

This special father message is in the form of a rhyming poem. Perfect for Father's Day!.

There's a very special feeling
I have that's just for you.
You've made my life much better,
And helped me as I grew.

I know I've made you mad
At times down through the years,
And there were a lot of times
You were the reason for my tears.

But that's just life and living;
I know your love runs deep.
I can always count on you
To help me when I weep.

So I'd like to take today
To say it hasn't been so bad,
And the greatest thing of all
Is you'll always be my dad.

Some things aren't said enough,
So today I'd like to say:
"I love you very much,
And have a truly wonderful day!"

You Made Time

by Vasquez Savage
(Hinton, Oklahoma)

This touching father poem expresses the fulfillment of a wish that most children have: to spend lots of time with dad.

When my bike got broke,
Or a story needed to be told,
You made time.

When the homework was too much,
Or I just needed a hug,
You made time.

When I needed to be found,
Or to find out what made that sound,
You made time.

When there was a ball to be thrown,
Or an award to be bestowed,
You made time.

Whether it was the birds and the bees,
Or just a talk about the breeze,
You made time.

I love you Dad more than ever,
No matter what, when, or wherever.
You still make time.

Happy Father's Day
from Your Wife

Fathers like this one bring honor to Father's Day.

In the eyes of God I see you as He sees you,
a loving husband and dad,
a quiet and gentle soul
who touches the heart of so many,
living your life as an example for your children.
A great provider,
providing for the needs of the family,
a friend, always there when someone needs you.
Though you are seldom recognized
for your unselfish deeds
you continue to sow
in the lives of your family and others.
In the eyes of God, He sees your humility,
your love your caring and loving spirit.
He smiles down and says, "He is my child."
So as you do everything unto God,
know that He will reward you now
and in the life to come.
Stay faithful and know
that your labor of love is not in vain.
Happy Father's Day!

Father: The Best of Everything

by Amy
(Palm Bay . FL USA)

This father message tells how important Dad is to his family and especially to his daughter.

A father is not only by blood
but by the purest of heart;
A father is a daughter's first love
and her king.
A father is caring, supportive,
right from the start;
A father is the best
of everything.
Hardworking, genuine,
and dedicated,
A father sacrifices his freedom
for his family
in every way he can.
He is lovable, selfless,
and much appreciated.
I want my Dad to know
that I love you, Terry Cravens.
Happy Father's Day;
You are a great man!

It brings me inner peace,
A definite reassurance,

Angel Daughter

by Maggie Lee
(Penang Malaysia)

For those who don't have children, perhaps this father to daughter poem will convey some of the immeasurable joy that a baby brings.

You are my angel,
the angel that God sent me
to make our lives so meaningful.
Yes! The day you were born,
you made everyone in this family so excited,
your grandparents, me and your mom,
all your uncles and aunts,
other relatives and friends.
There was so much to talk about,
nonstop chatting in the patient room,
so much happiness.
There were blessings
and all sorts of flowers
to this little new born baby girl.

The way you looked at me,
your smile, your eyes, drew our attention.
Thank God! You are as beautiful as your mom.
You are our angel, our heart, our breath.
My sweet little angel will grow up days by days,
and I will grow old years by years.
We love you our dearest daughter.
You are our happiness, our joy.

A Father In His Eyes

by Latosha Mitchell
(Brooklyn, NY)

This father message is for all those wonderful men who are positive role models and supportive mentors to boys who are not their "blood" sons.

You are a father in his eyes,
An angel in disguise.
Even though your blood does not run through his veins,
The love and care that you give, it stains.
What better gift to give a young boy
Who is very impressionable
Than an excellent, positive role model to look up to.
You have captured his world,
And made time to be a part of it,
So much that he has created
A home for you in his heart.
I want to thank you
For being the perfect father figure
To my child,
And for all the other things you do.
On this day and always
I am grateful for you.

Angel Stepdad

by Tabitha La Mott
(Houston, TX, USA)

This Father's Day message is to an awesome stepfather.

Even though you may not know it,
I love you from the bottom of my heart.
From deep within my soul,
I can feel my love for you
grow stronger each and every day.
You mean much more to me
than just a random stepdad
or man that my mother loves.
No matter how you look at it,
you are my father.

Through good and bad
you are always there
to love and care.
I am a little bundle of joy
because of the love that we share.
It doesn't matter where I go,
or how far I go in life,
I'll never ever forget
all you have done.

This is my way of saying
whether you need me or not,
I'll be there for you.
You took the time
to stop and help my mother,
so no matter what im doing
you can call me any time,
and I'll stop and help you for a change.

The love and affection you showed us,
the way you walked into our lives
like a angel with wings,
and put smiles on all of our faces,
the way my mother
started crying tears of joy
when you bought her the beautiful ring
and when you took us with you
to shop for another ring for her,
all of that shows
that you really care.

I love that you can come over
and my grandma just lights up
like she was never even sad.
It's crazy, but it's a great feeling
to see all the smiling faces.

Aways remember that I love you dearly
with all my heart.
I love you, and hope you enjoy your Fathers Day.

Missing You, Dad

by Tammie Johnson
(Philadelphia, MS)

This Father's Day poem to a deceased father, from a son, on the occasion of the son's marriage, confirms how important Dad is in the lives of his family.

Remembering you is easy;
I do it every day,
But there’s an ache within my heart,
Because I’m missing you today.

When you look from heaven,
And see my smiling face,
I hope you know I miss you,
How I long for your embrace.

I pray that you are listening
to what my heart has to say,
I’ve found my one true love;
Your little boy is getting married today.

A red rose my bride will carry,
when she walks down the aisle;
It’s her way of honoring you;
She hopes to make you smile.

I can feel your presence beside me,
The place where you would stand,
quietly watching over me,
As I place this ring upon her hand.

Although we cannot see you,
As we say our wedding vows,
Daddy, keep your spirit here with us,
For as long as your time allows.

As we begin our own journey,
Our own fresh new start,
We know God has you in his keeping,
But we have you in our heart.

Daddy, we burn this candle
in memory of you,
as we stand before God
And say “I DO,”

He Made Every Game

by Alan Balter
(Northbrook, IL)

This beautiful Father's Day message made me cry.

While playing third with men on first and second, A double play would be great; so it was I reckoned. A grounder came my way, and I handled it with ease, Stepped on third, tossed to first, and nailed him if you please.

I pumped my fist and glanced at Dad, standing midst a crowd,
A silent nod and a smile were all that he allowed.
No need for any accolades; thank you all the same,
‘Cause he was pushing seventy, and he still made every game.

Me and Dad had a blast, from the time that I was little.
He could dance and skate and even play the fiddle.
He never earned degrees or any kind of fame,
But when he was pushing seventy, he still made every game.

Dad’s been gone for a long time; some memories are dim.
A handsome grandson came along who’s named after him.
Young Max likes to play some ball to everyone’s acclaim,
His Dad is pushing fifty, and he still makes every game.

I Have Some
Great Memories of You, Dad!

I wish that everyone out there had such fond memories of their dad and their childhoods as this writer!

Dad, if I were writing a father message, here are some great things I remember from childhood that I would include: As a little kid, I would sometimes ride on your shoulders--scary but fun! When it was really cold, you would unbutton your coat and enfold me inside to share your body warmth. That felt really good. And I loved it when you would let me sit and snuggle in the big Dad's chair with you.

All those camping trips...you would take us kids fishing and bait our hooks and spend hours out on Wisconsin lakes with us. You taught me how to cast. At the camp eating table, you would pretend to eat the yellow jackets that surrounded us, and it looked so real! How did you do that? You would come into the lake with us and let us flip backwards out of your interlaced hands again and again to splash in the water.

I remember going to a forest preserve and you would belly flop on top of each of us kids on our sled to slide safely down the snowy hill. And every year, when you and Mom took us kids to Chicago to Riverview, the big amusement park there that no longer exists, your patience with going on ride after ride was unending.

I remember popcorn! When we went to the movies, you would pop a shopping bag full of popcorn to take with us. Best of all, every Sunday you would make a huge batch of popcorn for us to eat while we watched Hopalong Cassidy on TV in the afternoon.

Dad, you have a beautiful smile that lights up my day. Some people say I have a nice smile, so maybe I got it from you, but it's not as terrific as yours. I love your mellow, manly voice. My brother has such a similar voice I find it difficult to tell your voices apart. Lucky brother to get that from you. I love to listen to both of you.

Those are just a few of the great memories I have of you. I thank the Lord for giving me such a good father. So Dad, my Fathers Day message to you is, Thanks for being such a great dad!

Poem for Grandson Charlie

by Larry McCrea
(Regina, Saskatchewan)

A father loves his child;
When that child has a child,
That grandson is a gift;
Grandparents just go wild!

You arrived in our lives
Two and a half years ago;
We had not seen you yet;
Oh, how we loved you so.

Made a trip out west,
You were just 4 weeks old;
Held you for the first time,
A beautiful angel to hold.

Time passes along,
A wedding arrives,
We play in the hall
And watch cars go by.

Our first holiday in Ottawa
Haven't seen you for a while,
You are now walking and talking
With a beautiful smile.

You stay at the hotel
With Grandpa and Grandma,
Go swimming in the pool
Read books in your pajamas.

The room needs ice;
We walk down the hall,
Talk about swimming
And throwing the ball.

The playroom is fun
Lots of things to do,
Guitar is your favorite,
And reading books too.

We love you Grandson Charlie
More than you know.
Grandpa has tears in his eyes,
How he misses you so!

Grandpa

by Jerry Wheeling
(Dexter, MO USA)

What a wonderful, touching Father's Day poem about Grandpa, who may not be clear on some things but never forgets the love.

"What year did you say, two thousand fourteen?"
"No, Grandpa," I said, "Please pass me the beans."
He said, "Oh, I'm sorry; here they are son;
Don't eat too many, or they'll give you the runs."

"How old are you, Grandpa? Did you say you were 80?"
"Yes, my grandson, I used to go with the ladies!"
"What! Grandpa, where's your hearing aid?
If you don't wear it, your hearing will fade."

He said, "I put it in a cup that said dentures."
It was fizzing like crazy, but what an adventure!"
"Oh Grandpa, what will make you alert?"
"You bet," he said, "I will take some dessert."

"I love you, Grandpa; do you love me, too?"
He said, "I've always loved your sister and you."

Bound By Love

by Bronwyn
(Cape Town)

An appreciative Father's Day message:

Things weren't always easy;
Getting along was often tough.
Still I never loved you any less than I do right now.
I wish I had the words to let you know just how I feel inside.
You have always been there for me.
Good or bad,
There you were
Right by my side.
Thank you Dad for all you've done,
For all your love,
Even when I chose not to see.
You always gave your very best
To me and to my kids.
You are everything a Dad could ever be.
Our lives would never be the same without you.
Thank you for all you are and all do that often goes unseen.
Happy Fathers Day Dad.
