Best Mother In The World

by Asanda Dube
(KZN, Durban, South Africa)

What a lovely, deep felt, free verse mother poem. What a lucky person to have a mother like this and to appreciate her so much, and to put all these feelings in a sincere mother message!

I did not ask for more but to have someone like you.
I know I'm really blessed to have the love you give to me.
You bring out the best of me;
No one knows me better than you do.

You're my shining star,
My everything I ever wished for.
You brighten my day whenever I feel blue;
I feel OK whenever I hear your voice.
You're my light when I'm in the dark.

You lift me up when I'm down on the dusty ground.
You're my strength when I'm weak,
My eyes when I'm blinded,
The brains when I couldn't think.
You give me a reason to live, which is for you.

I may not have everything I want and need,
But with you I have everything.
I love you today, tomorrow and forever.
You're the best mommy in the whole wide world.

A Mother Is The Greatest Gift

by Natassha

This rhyming mother verse covers all the important basics of why we love our mothers! It's a mother message that a lot of people can understand.

A mother is a gift from God,
The greatest gift there's ever been.
A mother can never be replaced,
She turns a frown into a grin.

A mother cares,
If we have nightmares.
A mother's love is true,
That I can assure you.

Mother, I'm telling you today,
I'll love you always, come what may.
You treated me well like none other,
I'm glad I'm the one who calls you MOTHER!

What Things Moms Will Do

by Hannah Chow
(Kansas City, Missouri)

This creative Mother's Day message covers what makes Mom so important, so essential to her children.

Simple, sweet, subtle, and soft,
A pat on the back when you have to cough.
Creative, caring, cool, and calm,
Reaching into her purse if you need lip balm.

Rowdy, rude, rough, and ready,
She is always there to keep things steady.
My oh my, what things moms will do.
When you need them the most,
They will help see you through.

What would we do? What can I say?
Without a mother we would be in dismay.
So many tasks for a one human being,
Washing, ironing, and taking the kids skiing.

If I woke up tomorrow and she was not there,
I would feel incomplete, life would be bare.
Some encouraging thoughts for my mother out there,
Keep up the good work and continue to care.

The Greatest Mother

by Murdhen Kesaven
(Mauritius)

This Mother's Day message is from an grateful adult son to his mom.

You've been the greatest mother to me,
Teaching me things that others don't see,
So I write to you this very day
Praying The Lord will bless you in every way.

Through the years of heartbreak and toil,
You've always been there for this boy, whom you spoil.
Now I'm a man whom you trained in the past,
And those lessons you taught me will help, and will last.

Anyway, I just wanted to say
Thank you for starting me on His Way,
For without your teaching I'd be lost today.
But because of you and God by my side,
Maybe I'll find the courage inside,

The strength to withstand every personal attack,
That my enemies throw at me, hoping I'll crack.
And so to you the "World's Best Mother,"
If I could choose, I'd have no other.

Thank you; I love you Mom;
From your first born son.

Without Your Love

by Chelsea Marie
(Canada)

This mother will weep for joy when she reads this mother message, which celebrates a mom who is definitely a superstar. This mother note deserves to be framed and hung on a wall. These words for mother will always be fondly remembered.

Without your love, I wouldn't be here,
guided and ready for what the future holds.
I wouldn't have the experience, courage, or strength
to build myself up, to try to live my life this far.
So many mistakes I've made,
so many more than what you planned.
I never thought being a Mother could be so hard;
then I realized you've been a nurse, a teacher,
a counselor, a best friend, a maid, a cook, a tutor,
my inspiration.
You've given me a place to live,
and a role model to follow.
I miss you when we're distant;
I cry when I'm without you in a darkened room.
I didn't know why we were so close until now,
when I see that our love brought us here today.
Without you I'd be different;
you're the light in my heart, my mind and my soul.
You're my Mom, and without you
I'd be nothing to this world.

Happy Mother's Day!

How Much I Love You, Mama

by Alaysia Davis
(New Orleans)

This mother message is full of nostalgic memories and current gratitude. It's a mother note acknowledging that mother to child relationships are never perfect, but that mothers are absolutely essential to a child's well being.

Dear Mama,

I can't really say how much I love you,
but here it is:
When I was first born, I was your baby girl,
and you always made sure
I was looking pretty and smelling good.
I don't know any other mom like you.
I just love you, and I will never hurt you.
Yes, we have our ups and downs,
but you are my life and soul,
so please stay my mom forever,
you number one mom.

Tough Love

by Nina

"It's my turn to care for you," says this daughter to her mom. Although there have been ups and downs for these two, this mother message shows deep feelings, a strong bond, and heartfelt love.

Mom you are so special,
caressing me in your heart.

I know sometimes I am not so good,
but I try so hard.
I'm sorry if I was bad,
I'm sorry if I hurt you.

I try to win your approval,
and even win your heart,
but sometimes its not enough,
because life is just so tough.

You've been with me,
by my side, through thick and thin.
When I'm angry,
you patiently listen as I spill my heart,
and you try to reassure me as I cry so hard.

In my happy mood,
you make it twice as good,
laughing and joking
in your special kind of way.

You are my world,
as I know I am for you.
Thank you for being there,
helping me and supporting me.

You did your part to raise me,
and it's my turn to care for you.

I love you.

Mother of My Heart

by Dawn Patterson
(Kernersville, N.C. USA)

There's a puzzle, a mystery in this mother message. Is this author talking about her birth mother, her adoptive mother, or someone unrelated to whom she is grateful for doing some of the things a mother does? Only the author of this mother note knows the answer.

You came into my life simply as my teacher.
From that first day I knew you were someone special.
You took time to teach us from many books.
You took time to show us how to rhyme.
You even showed us how to sit up straight,
and care about ourselves.
"If you need me for anything just ask," you said.

Is this not what we as mothers do every day,
Teach, guide and prepare our children for life?
Every day since way back then,
You were not only a teacher to me;
You've been much more.
You're my chosen mother,
The one my heart chose.

Mother So Dear

by Cole Conner
(Oregon City, OR)

The words and feelings in this mother message are ones every mother longs to hear. Many people have mothers as attentive as the mom described here, but they don't appreciate her, or they do appreciate her in their herarts but never let her know that. Every mom wants to hear that she is "the mother I always wanted."

Mom, I love you so much,
I can't explain in words.
You've taken care of me
since I was a little tot,
and you were always there for me
when I needed you.
As I grow up so fast,
my love grows for you
and all the things you do!
You are the Mother
I have always wanted,
and that will never change.

You Are the Best

by Collins Turyatemba
(Kampala)

The author of this touching mother message definitely has the makings of a contemporary, free-verse poet. His mom should be proud of her intuitive, appreciative son, as he is proud of her.

Every morning she wakes;
"Collins!" she calls.
In her words she prays.
In all cases she loves.
You are the best mom.

When you are wrong, she corrects;
For every evil she rebukes.
In difficult situations she embraces,
Lives to see me rejoice.
You are the best mom.

In her arms I have found joy.
Together we have seen it all.
She never leaves, no matter what.
She is the best mom ever.

I am proud of you, Mom.
I live to see what you have labored for.
God has kept you alive for a reason;
Together we shall reach our destination.
I love you, my dear Mom.
You are the best mom.

My Mother: A Gift From God

by Nancy Lee Armstrong
(Pulaski, Virginia)

Some universal feelings about mothers are expressed in this warm, sentimental mother poem. Many people have these feelings but fail to express them and then it is too late. Express your love to your mother!

What is a home without my Mother,
For I will always dearly love her.
She has always been there
When no one else did care.

She comforted me in time of my need,
Helped heal a broken heart
When I felt it bleed.
She is a gift from God,
Most precious to me.
I wish to thank you, Lord,
On my bended knee.

Keep her in health,
Oh Lord, I pray.
Keep her here each passing day.

Mom, You're Gone, But You're Still in My Heart

by Jackie Foster
(Los Angeles, California)

A lovely, heartfelt tribute to a deceased mother who has "wings in heaven." There are a lot of searches for expressions of feelings such as these: eulogy for a mother, loss of a mother poem, memorial verse for a mother, and many more. This mother message says what many others who have lost their moms are feeling. May those who read it be comforted and uplifted by these caring words.

Mom, you earned your wings in heaven,
so on Mothers Day you can still walk around heaven
and look down on your children.
Yes Mom, your love is in our hearts forever,
and your kindness and your prayers are everlasting.
It was wonderful to be raised by a Christian mom
who loved and feared the Lord
and who passed down the word of God
on Mother's Day and every day.
Mom you were truly appreciated,
and I shall enjoy Mothers Day
knowing that you're in a better place.

So to all whose mom isn't able
to be with them on Mothers Day,
remember the beauty in her eyes
and her smile and the kisses and the hugs.
Yes, she was remarkable;
so God bless all Mothers on Mother's Day.

I Love My Hard Working Mother!

by Erica Lightner
(Vermontville, MI, US)

This mom does what all good mothers try to do: provide physical and emotional support to their kids. Not all mothers are blessed enough to get a mother message like this one, though. If you haven't told your mother about your gratitude and appreciation for all she has done, do it before it's too late!

My mother, is a hard working mother
who tries to get me the things I need.
I love my mother with all of my heart.
I just want my mother to know
how much she means to me.
My mother has been there
since I was born up to now,
and she is still with me today.
We both have been through
thick and thin together as Mother and Daughter.
I love having this mother-daughter relationship
with my loving mother.
My extraordinary and special mother
loves me with her precious heart.
I am proud to call her my mother.

For An Amazing Mom

by Leah G. Compania
(Doha, Qatar)

The depth of emotion and understanding in this daughter to mother message is amazing. This daughter is really tuned in to her mother's feelings, and she appreciates all her mother gave her and went through for her. She intends, some day, to let her mother know, or know again, of her gratitude and to be at her death bed to care for her. Will she make it in time? she asks. We'll never know.

I hate to see your face aged
With worries still at hand
For your children who have grown up and fled
With your words of wisdom stuck in their heads.

Yes, your look might have matured,
But your heart never grows old.
Your love for us has not at all changed,
From the very start till the end.

Can't wait for the day to come
To hug you tight and feel the warmth
Of a mother’s hug who longed so much
To see her loving daughter who has gone apart.

You may not say it very often,
But I know how much you missed
Those days when we couldn't sleep
Without your lullaby and warm embrace.

I know how hard it was for you
To let your dear daughter go,
To give her hand to a stranger;
For you the intent was unclear.

To give you peace of mind, I swear
To know my rights and fight without fear,
To defend myself and my children as well
Against the perils this world might offer.

I wish one day I will have the time to tell you
About the journey that I have been through,
How thankful I am that you are my mother,
My mentor, my friend and my constant adviser.

As time passed by I feared
That one day oblivion will prevail.
I wish to be by your side to care,
Just like you did to me when I was your little girl.

The Worlds Greatest Mom

by Louis E. Butller
(Judsonia, Arkansas, U S A)

Most sentimental mother poems are written by women, but here's a perceptive mother message written by an appreciative son, reflecting on the parent-child relationship.

A man can never show in words or praise,
What he feels for his mom in his life's many days.
When he's young he's sweet, when he's old he's mean;
When he's of age he's mature, when he's gone he's serene.

A mother watches over in trouble and strife;
She knows she can't keep them all of their life.
A mother knows when they're going to leave,
But they don't understand; they just don't perceive.

That Mom has no price, there's no way to repay,
But we love Mom dearly, no matter what we say.
This poem is to you "The Greatest Mom" I know;
I'll always love you wherever I go.

Memories of My Mother

by Lita J
(Watertown MN)

Mother's Day poems from daughters to mothers often express new understanding of what their mothers went through raising them and of their love, dedication and persistence. It's unclear whether the mother in this message is still alive, but she is most certainly intensely loved and highly appreciated.

Mothers Day morning is here.
I think of you, sweet Mama,
and wish you were here.

I'm a Mother now,
so I understand the sacrifices a mother makes,
and also the joy and laughter
that come along the way.
There are also tears and pain
as we learn and grow,
understanding that our children
rely on us to know.
We have to be strong yet loving
as we guide them through their lives.

Mama, you were my angel,
so strong and true.
You raised nine of us;
how did you ever cope?
You did it so gracefully
and with a heart full of love.
I miss you, sweet Mama,
my angel from up above.

The Greatest Mom

by Amy
(Palm Bay FL USA)

Here's a caring, loving, gratitude-filled mother message for her birthday and anniversary.

I thank God you came into my life.
You are a wonderful mother,
caring friend and wife.
Happy birthday and Anniversary
to the most sweetest woman I have known;
That woman's my mother
and I am glad to call her my own.
As you celebrate this most special day,
Remember you are loved and appreciated
by family and friends in every way.
You always give to others
by putting them first;
You make them happy
when they are feeling at their worst.
You taught me that family is LOVE,
So for you, mom, I thank the lord above.
Always there for me until the very end,
You are not only my mother
but my best friend!
I love you, mom.
Happy birthday and anniversary.

Mom, You Brought Serenity and Peace to My Life

These nostalgic words for mother obviously describe a time long ago. Note the reference to antiques. This mother message is a tribute to all those cake-baking, costume-making, Christmas-ornament-creating moms who provided not just physical safety but also emotional security for their kids, simply by always being there.

~~~
Mom, you seemed so centered and peaceful; I don't remember you ever getting angry at me, and I was no saint! I can't write a Mother's Day poem, but I think of you often with gratitude and appreciation.
I really am thankful I was not a "latchkey kid," coming home from school to an empty house. You didn't work outside the home, so you were always there--an easy-going presence, ready to make cupcakes for school or a costume for a school play. I remember being a pumpkin in one elementary school event, with an orange crepe paper skirt and a circular cardboard hat covered with the same orange and also some green crepe paper for my "stem." My teacher gave you the pattern, and, like great moms everywhere, you did what was asked of you.
Do they even make crepe paper anymore, except in streamers? I had a wooden twister for crepe paper streamers that turned it into raffia (which is trendy today) and I would cover things with it, sometimes plain, sometimes braided, to make gifts. We did a lot of things with crepe paper, didn't we Mom? (Well, I just Googled it, they don't make the twister anymore; the available ones are antiques.)
I think your most lasting legacy, Mom, other than the accomplishments of the thousands of descendants that will eventually come from you, is those spectacular Christmas ornaments you made year after year, until now there are hundreds of them being passed down to the next generation and to generations down the line. Instead of glueing on the sequins and beads, you sewed them on by hand, so they will last a very long time. Everyone who sees them "oohs" and "aahs" over them.
You were unflappable, even in a crisis, and you took things in stride. I remember one time you had made a cake for my birthday, and I started eating just the frosting off the cake. I asked you, "Does this upset you, me eating just the frosting?" "It's your cake," you replied calmly. That was so typical of you. And so I floated through childhood in this sea of tranquility. My Mother's Day message is: "Thanks, mom, for being you--a placid, steady, serene role model for me to follow. I wish I had told you how much that meant to me.
With your sparkling blue eyes and amazing smile,
Thank you mom for always going the extra mile.
Thank you for always being there;
Thank you for showing me that you truly care.
Thank you for putting my needs before your own;
Friendship often inspires affectionate poems and friend messages, like this one.
When I look at you, I'm happy.
Your face is so warm; it's inviting.
The life you gave me, it's special.
You're there when I need you,
You're the one true love in my life.
Mother's Day Message
by Glin Canady
There are no words in the world
to express how much we love you, Mom.
The three kids you made upon this earth
are able to show
what a great, awesome mother you are.
We never had a lot of the world's things
but we had the one thing
only you could give: LOVE.
We always came first in your life.
We will appreciate you
and love you forever.
I Miss You, Mama
by Tera Atkinson
(Baltimore Maryland)
This Mother's Day message for a deceased mother is touching and heartfelt.
I miss my mama;
there is no one who can take the place of my mama.
Mama was a loving and caring person and a child of God.
I miss my mama.
Mama was a friendly and sociable person.
She worked in the school, church, and community
with the young and the old.
I miss my mama; there is no one who can take the place of my mama.
When we were young, mama would sing spiritual and gospel songs,
and recite poems to us.
Mama also sang in several choirs at Sharon Baptist Church.
I miss my mama.
Mama was not only called mama by her children;
her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren called her mama, too.
I miss my mama; there is no one who can take the place of my mama.
Jesus missed my mama so much that on February 18, 2012
He called her home to be with Him in glory.
I miss my mama Shirley Mae Atkinson;
She is gone but not forgotten.
I miss my mama; there is no one who can take the place of my mama!
To Mother Filling In As Father
by Larry
(Bulverde, TX)
This Mother's Day message looks like it's for a father, but it's not. It was originally submitted as a Father's Day poem, but it is written about a mother who has to do both jobs, father and mother, because the father is deceased.
A father is a special job,
Difficult to the very end,
To love and support his children
No matter which way life bends.
A call to teach them how to live,
And a call to always protect,
A call to hold back their tears,
Whenever he has to correct.
To put his personal desires aside,
To cultivate his children's dreams,
To be a shoulder to cry on,
When their tears turn into streams.
A call to love and be proud
At all their victories,
And a call to help them to unravel
All life's big mysteries.
But what if that call goes unanswered,
When the father who’d do that task
Has been called home too early in life,
It’s more than anyone can ask.
But who will answer the call,
To be special like no other;
The answer is a special person,
An extraordinary Mother.
A Mother who has other jobs
Assigned throughout her life,
Who carries a larger burden,
And struggles with all the strife.
But with the strife comes blessings,
And with our Heavenly Father's love,
An extra dose of riches
Pours down from Heaven above.
God will help and guide you
As you answer the call of another,
And bless you as his precious child;
Thank God for you, their Mother.
From My Heart, To Above
by Gary Marshall
(Purfleet, Essex, England)
This poem for a deceased mother is a Mother's Day message to which many who have lost their mum, or mom, can relate.
I lost your mortal soul,
To the heavens above.
There is a gaping hole,
Once filled with love.
There is forever sorrow,
There is lasting pain.
My heart is now hollow,
One day I will see you again.
Mum, who showed show much love,
Optimism which cascaded from afar;
The touch was with velvet glove,
Happiness that shone like a star.
Eternal just like the flame,
Remembered with love by her name.
Mom
by Kerri Eaton
(Ontario, Canada)
Here's a tribute to mom in a mother message that any mother would love to receive.
Who could be more suited
To such a noble name, but you?
Your beauty cannot be hidden;
it comes shining through.
The brightness of your love,
Kindness, compassion, too,
If anyone would ask, I'd say
I'd like to be more like you.
Your smiles and hugs assure us,
Your faith is tried and true,
Whenever we're in need at all,
We can always count on you.
You're the pride of your children,
Grandchildren adore you, too.
When God planned our lives beforehand
The right mother for us He knew.
The Precious Love of a Mother
by Lisa Weyand Wilkins
(Plant City, Florida)
This is a "Happy Mother's Day" message for the author's mother, Ann Weyland.
The precious love of my mother
Isn't hard to see.
She's always been there for me,
Although she didn't have to be.
Her words of encouragement
Would lift me when I was down;
She gave me the strength I needed,
Always unconditional,
Until I'd come around!
The precious love of my mother,
Knows me inside and out.
She's never give up on me and never will;
I know this, without a shadow of a doubt.
The precious love from my mother,
Always giving, unselfishly.
Makes me a better person,
Able to give what was instilled in me!
Mere words can't explain
The precious love of my mother
Or what it means to me.
I'm just so proud to say
God has surely blessed me!
Always with words of encouragement,
Dear, Sweet Mum
by Jasmine
(Queensland)
This Mother's Day message ends with a famous quote by an unknown author.
I love you, dear, sweet, mum.
For all you have done for me,
there's no way to repay you,
A card? something for the car?
Something for the kitchen?
No way; a poem is best.
Nobody loves me like you, mum,
no matter what I do,
if I'm good or bad, happy or sad.
Throughout my life, you're always near,
a tender smile to guide my way,
you're the sunshine in my day.
Best friends forever, mum and me,
picking flowers or climbing a tree.
A shoulder to cry on, secrets to share
warm hearts and hands that really care.
Mothers hold their children's hands
